Chaumet Opens a New Boutique in Barcelona
Inside the Chaumet boutique in Barcelona
Chaumet has opened a new boutique in Barcelona, at 73 Passeig de Gràcia in the city’s Eixample district. The location, one of Europe’s most prominent luxury avenues, places the Parisian maison within a setting defined by Catalan modernism and architectural heritage.
The boutique’s design draws on Barcelona’s visual identity, with references to Antoni Gaudí and the organic lines of Catalan modernism translated into curved forms, mosaic details, and warm light. These elements are combined with Chaumet’s own symbolic universe — the laurel wreath, the bee, and the tiara form — creating an interior where French refinement and local artistry meet.
Inside, visitors encounter a wall dedicated to tiaras, the jewel that has defined Chaumet for over two centuries. Displayed as light structures floating against a deep blue backdrop, they reflect the maison’s mastery in translating history, symbolism, and craftsmanship into contemporary form. Each tiara recalls Chaumet’s historic role as jeweller to royalty while remaining a living emblem of the maison today.
The opening also reflects a deeper history. Chaumet has long ties with Spain, having created jewels for Spanish royalty in the nineteenth century and exhibiting in Barcelona during the 1929 International Exposition. By returning to the city with a permanent space, the maison reinforces this legacy while introducing its high jewelry, bridal, and timepiece collections to a new audience. Private areas within the boutique offer an intimate environment for bespoke services, underlining the role of personalization in contemporary luxury.
Strategically, the Barcelona opening strengthens Chaumet’s presence in the Iberian Peninsula alongside its Madrid address, while contributing to the brand’s broader European expansion. For the maison, it is not only a commercial development but also a cultural statement, aligning its Parisian heritage with the architectural and artistic traditions of Barcelona.
