Nujuma | Ritz-Carlton Reserve on the Red Sea
In spring 2024, Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, quietly opened its doors on the untouched Ummahat Islands in Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea. It is the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve in the Middle East, a rare jewel among global destinations, offering a level of seclusion and design that redefines island luxury.

Vision of Architectural Serenity
Designed by Foster + Partners, the resort blends harmoniously into the landscape. Overwater and beachfront villas form a crescent along crystalline waters, their shell-inspired curves and natural materials echoing the Red Sea’s coastal beauty.

World of Private Luxury
With just 63 villas, each featuring its own pool and panoramic sea views, Nujuma is a sanctuary of privacy. Wooden walkways lead across lagoons, while telescopes in every villa invite guests to discover the desert night skies.

Interiors Rooted in Heritage and Bare-foot Luxury
Designed by Wimberly Interiors, the resort’s interiors amplify the architectural shell-inspired forms with tactile, natural materials—think carved timber, stone, and burnished metal—with warm palettes of sand and sea tones. Each villa is a cocoon of comfort: open baths tucked behind freestanding beds, built-in seating curves that echo the shell’s geometry, handwoven rugs and camel-saddle-inspired benches, local ceramics, and desert-night-sky artwork. The Neyrah Spa, woven seamlessly into its surroundings, offers an atmospheric journey through wood- and rope-clad spaces, copper reception pools, outdoor treatment cabins, and tranquil views across the sweeping beach.
Culture, Nature, and Discovery
Beyond architecture, the resort curates experiences rooted in the region’s identity — from diving in coral-rich waters to exploring mangroves, or simply stargazing where desert meets sea. Every detail is designed to immerse guests in both nature and narrative.
Global Recognition
Since opening, Nujuma has been honored as Forbes Travel Guide’s Best New Hotel Opening of 2024, standing alongside prestigious contenders worldwide. This recognition highlights its rare fusion of design, sustainability, and cultural depth.
